Gallery 8 - Tanfield Railway

Tanfield Railway is located near Stanley in County Durham in the North East of England and is one of my favourite places for photography. No matter how many times I go, there is always something new to photograph. It is really a steam train graveyard full to the brim with rusting steam engines and carriages from an age long gone.

There are a group of wonderful enthusiasts who have restored several of these old trains to full running order and they regularly give rides to the public round a small section of track. If it wasn't for people like these, the age of steam locomotion would be gone forever. It is a wonderful place for images and this is a small selection of mine. I like to go in close to capture the corrosion patterns, etc as well as the bigger pictures too. I hope you like them. If you are in the area, it is well worth  a visit. Support the restoration team. Keep steam power alive!!
